From Grind to Twist: How to Roll a Joint Like a Pro

Rolling a joint is a time-honored tradition among cannabis enthusiasts, but for people who are just learning it can be an incredibly intimidating process. However, with a little patience and some practice, you’ll be right on your way to rolling the best joints your friends have ever seen!

Step 1: Prepare Your Materials

Before you begin rolling a joint, you have to get prepared. You’ll need a tray, rolling papers, a grinder, flower, a poker, and a filter tip. Once you’ve got everything together, its time to start rollin’!

Step 2: Grind Your Cannabis

Use a grinder to break down your cannabis flower into small, even pieces. Having even sized pieces will help ensure a smooth and even burn down the line. You want the pieces to be small enough to easily roll but not so fine that they will fall through the rolling paper.

Step 3: Create a Filter

To make a filter tip, roll a small piece of cardboard or stiff paper into a cylinder shape and place it at one end of the rolling paper.

Step 4: Fill Your Rolling Paper

Take the rolling paper and hold it between your fingertips making a canoe shape. Use your other hand to sprinkle the ground cannabis evenly into the paper. Make sure to not overfill the paper, as that will make it harder to roll your joint evenly.

Step 5: Roll Your Joint

Start by tucking the side of the rolling paper closest to you over the cannabis and filter tip. Use your thumbs and forefingers to roll the paper back and forth until the cannabis is compacted and takes the shape of the joint. Lick the glue strip on the rolling paper and seal the joint closed.

Step 6: Shape and Tamp 

Hold your joint filter side down and rotate it between your thumb and pointer finger. This will smooth out your joint, making sure the cannabis is evenly distributed. Gently pack your joint by tapping the filter side on a flat surface with your poker just resting in the open end of your joint. Be sure to not pack your joint too tightly as that will lead to airflow issues.

Step 7: Twist and Enjoy the fruit of your labor!

Finally, twist the end of the joint to prevent any cannabis from falling out. Now for the best part, light the end and enjoy your perfectly rolled joint.
